Oseng-Rees Reflection Presents at Global Glass Technology Sustainability Sessions
I'm thrilled to share the success of the recent Society of Glass Technology conference Sustainability Sessions. Attendees from around the globe—including the US, France, Italy, Germany, Sweden and Japan representing both academia and industry—gathered to explore critical sustainability topics. The new session on sustainability received outstanding feedback for its structured approach to discussing past activities, technical solutions, carbon management, and glass recycling challenges.
My presentation, titled "Sustainable Innovation: Development and Fabrication of Recycled Glass Shingles for Building Construction," was well-received, with a substantial audience specifically attending to hear my talk. I covered key aspects such as the historic building, key challenges prior to the contract, key challenges during fabrication, life cycle analysis, and the result of how I transformed 1.5 tonnes of waste glass bottles into 800 100% fused ecycled glass shingles for the Grade II listed building at TheButtermarket in Redruth, Cornwall.
Special congratulations to Pete Nisbet from Edenseven, who won the best speaker award for his engaging session on Scope3, "Making Sustainability YOUR Business." I'm honoured to have placed second.
This event not only fostered insightful discussions but also opened doors for new connections and exciting future projects in the architectural industry. Looking forward to continuing these important conversations and collaborations.
A great thank you to Krysteline Technologies, CEO Steve Whettingsteel, Katrina Day and Keeley McConnell in connecting me with the right people and opportunities, and for the special invitation to speak at the event.
